I Almost Said Noā¦But You Changed My Mind ā Asambe!
Morning, Beautiful DMs,
I need to tell you something that's been weighing on my heart, and it starts with a confession.
After our incredible June Remote Jobs Challenge wrapped up, I made a decision that felt practical at the time but left me feeling unsettled: I quietly shelved the Women's Month follow-up challenge I casually mentioned to some of you.
I had every intention to rest, reset, and pour all my creative energy into launching a new wave of newsletters that had been sitting on my heart for months.
I wanted to pour all my energy into launching these newsletter platforms, pushing to build something sustainable that could amplify our collective voice beyond just challenge windows.
But hereās the thing about passion projects and community promises: they have a way of haunting you when you try to push them aside.
They donāt just disappear when you try to ignore them.
Let me take you back to where this journey really began.
It was mid-2022, and I was sitting in my bedroom-turned-office, laptop balanced on a printer cardboard because I couldnāt afford a proper desk.
I was wrestling with the next phase of my career path uncertainty, watching talented young people around me struggle to break into the digital economy.
It felt like there had to be a better way to bridge that gap.
Thatās when "Be Intentional and Purposeful Today" was born, my first newsletter.
The name felt heavy even as I typed it, but the mission was clear: to land in inboxes like a gentle tap on the shoulder, reminding young people their career dreams werenāt just valid, they were achievable.
Those first few months were brutal.
I spent hours crafting what I thought were brilliant insights, only to see open rates barely reaching double digits.
I questioned everything.
Was I the right person to be doing this?
Did anyone care about what I had to say?
Some nights, I stared at my laptop screen, cursor blinking mockingly in an empty draft, wondering if I should just give up.
But something kept me going.
Occasionally, a reader would reply, saying a newsletter helped open their eyes regarding the digital economy.
Another would message to say she had explored and applied the resources shared via the newsletter.
Those moments reminded me why I started: because representation matters, because someone needed to speak directly to the youth and the newsletter was the relevant response to this hidden desire.

When Youth Month Magic Happened
Fast forward to June 2025, Youth Month and everything clicked.
The 21-Day Remote Jobs Challenge wasnāt just a programme; it became a movement.
Watching over 500 young people show up daily, learning, creating, and celebrating breakthroughs was pure magic.
The energy was infectious.
LinkedIn posts flew, success stories poured in, and suddenly, the remote work world felt less intimidating for the participants.
You didnāt just participate, you created a community proving whatās possible when we show up for each other consistently.
In that rush of excitement, I casually mentioned something that would change everything: "Imagine what we could do with a Women's Month challenge in August..."
The Voices That Wouldn't Let Me Forget
Hereās where you beautiful humans enter the story as the heroes you are.
While I convinced myself that focusing solely on launching four new Newsletters was the āsmart business move,ā some of you refused to let that Women's Month comment fade away.
The DMs started trickling in: "Hey Phemelo, are we still doing that August challenge you mentioned?"
Akere, another ones came through: "I've been telling my friends about the Women's Month challenges, when are we starting?"
"I marked my calendar for August, please tell me it's still happening!"
Each message felt like a gentle but persistent knock on my door.
They reminded me that leadership isnāt just about grand announcements or sharing plans in the corners, itās about following through on the commitments you make, even casual ones.
One message stopped me in my tracks.
A young woman wrote: "That June challenge changed how I see myself professionally. I finally landed my first remote job interview thanks to the confidence I built over those 21 days. I've been counting down to August because I know more women need what we experienced."
Thatās when it hit me: This was never just about my business strategy or newsletter metrics.
It was about honouring a community that showed up, invested their time and energy, and trusted me with their career dreams.

Your voices didnāt just remind me of a promise, they rekindled something I had temporarily lost sight of.
The same fire that drove me to start that first newsletter kept me going through doubt and made the June challenge such a success.
I realised I had fallen into the trap of treating community building and newsletter growth as competing priorities.
Theyāre two sides of the same coin.
Your encouragement reminded me that sometimes the most authentic path isnāt the one that looks neat on a business strategy, itās the one that honours the relationships youāve built and the impact you want to create.
Itās Official
So hereās what I want to say loud and clear: The Women's Month 21-Day Challenge is officially happening this August.
Not because it fits perfectly into my content calendar, but because you reminded me our community deserves leaders who keep their word, especially when life gets complicated and busy.
This isnāt just another challenge; itās our chance to build on the incredible foundation we laid in June.
To welcome new voices while deepening the connections weāve already made.
To prove that what started in Youth Month was just the beginning.

What Happens Next
I'm already deep in planning mode, and I promise you, this August challenge is going to be something special.
We're taking everything that worked in June and turning it up a notch, plus adding some ideas I've been dreaming about since we wrapped the āfirst challenge.'ā
The detailed announcement, registration info, and all the exciting specifics will drop in our next newsletter publication.
Trust me, youāll want to see what we have lined up.
For now, hereās what I need from you:
Stay tuned.
Keep that August energy brewing.
And if you know friends, colleagues or family members who missed the June challenge but could benefit from this community, start informing them.
We want to ensure that hundreds of young women participate in this Womenās Month Challenge.
This is our moment to show whatās possible when young women commit to showing up for each other consistently.
Thank you for reminding me who we are and what we can do together.
I appreciate it.
If you were one of the voices who reached out about the August challenge, you already know how much your words mattered.
If youāve been quietly hoping we will follow through, this is your sign that we never stopped believing in what this community can achieve.
STAY TUNED for full challenge details in the next newsletter.
The countdown to Womenās Month starts now. ā°
