You have spent hours preparing and tweaking your Resume, checking and re-checking it three times and still hardly getting a response from remote employers?
Here's the bottom line: your Resume is screaming "LOCAL ONLY" when it is read by potential global companies!
Most South African job seekers are sabotaging their chances of getting a remote job through the same rookie mistake and stuffing their CV with local references, names of schools and township addresses that international hiring managers would have absolutely zero context for.
Your WITS qualification might wow someone in Joburg, but trust me that person sitting in California is now wondering, "Wits what?" and has moved on to the next candidate.
Let's face it, the digital economy is exploding right now, and there are remote work opportunities available that pay in dollars, euros, and pounds, all of which have significant value, with no offence to our dreadful Rand.
But the competition is FIERCE right now, and you are now not just competing against Ntombizodwa from uMlazi; you are competing against Raj from India and Maria from Brazil too.

Your CV must speak a language that every hiring manager would understand everywhere in the world.
And if you do not instil a global perspective in your Resume, you may as well be throwing away 90% of fairly paying remote jobs and locking yourself into South African set salaries with a youth unemployment rate.
Remote recruiters are busy people, they donāt have time to āfigure you out.ā
If your rĆ©sumĆ© doesnāt speak to the role, your application goes straight to the digital rubbish bin.
That is talent wasted because you couldn't be bothered to tailor your story or message.
Your rƩsumƩ can't just be a list of your duties, it needs to demonstrate how you deliver results, even when that result is achieved online.
Your rƩsumƩ must scream clarity, confidence and capability.
You can even demonstrate your digital savvy by listing tools you are familiar with (i.e, Zoom, Google Suite, Canva, Trello, Slack, and not just Word and Excel, dude).
You can also talk about your remote-readiness: communication skills, time management and self-discipline.
But most importantly, itās important to utilise the keywords in the ad.
Thatās not lying, itās called aligning!
No lie, remote hiring systems (ATS) analyse CVS before a human does.
If you donāt use the right words, youāll vanish into thin air.
Hereās your power move: Before you even think about applying for any remote role, pause and customise your CV.
Research the job post.
Update your summary.
Incorporate the right skills.
Prove you understand the remote culture.
Every job is a pitch, and your CV is your sales page.
Donāt lose the opportunity to demonstrate youāre the best candidate because you couldnāt take 15 minutes to personalise your thank you.
