Most people know that I’m incredibly passionate about empowering our youth, not just here in South Africa but across the African continent, to embrace the digital economy as a means of economic emancipation.

It’s not just a matter of helping them find opportunities, it’s about guiding them on a journey that can truly transform their futures, their communities and even our economies.

Why am I so invested in this vision?

It’s because I believe the future is digital.

Every challenge we face as a country and as a continent can be overcome by tapping into the power of the digital space.

I’ve spent years (24 years to be exact) working alongside the young and I’ve seen firsthand the kind of potential they have when given the right tools, knowledge and guidance.

But, I know we need more than just a few success stories; we need an entire generation empowered, thriving and building sustainable futures.

   Researchers at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) developed a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) that allowed a paralyzed patient to control a robotic arm just by imagining himself performing actions like grasping, moving, and dropping objects.

   The BCI records brain activity through tiny sensors implanted on the brain’s surface. Then, AI-based algorithms analyze the recorded brain activity and identify patterns to create a decoder that translates the brain signals into specific commands.
